How to Make Money: Teen Edition
66There are many thing that teens can do in order to make money. Since a lot of teenagers cannot get a job until they turn 16, they still will like to be able to earn a little bit of spending money of their own, and so this is where they can become a good little entrepreneur and put their skills to use and make some good money on the side.
By teens being able to make their own money, they'll begin to learn a little bit more about spending and saving, and having to actually work in order to get the money. This can cause them to think twice about what they ware wanting to buy, or to maybe save up and get that expensive video game system or that nice bike they have been wanting.
Whatever the case, there are many things that teens can do, but here are a few teen money making ideas that I have come up with:
Yard Work
No matter what the season is, there are tons of things in the yard that teens can do for the neighbors in order to earn a little extra cash. All year long, especially during the summer, people need to have their lawn mowed. If your teen can do a good job, they can make what is a lot of money to them, but they would definitely be cheaper than if your neighbors hired a landscaping service.
Another great thing that they can do is to rake leaves in the fall. Every year, the trees get rid of their leaves and they cover your neighbors yards. If your teen gets the word out, they can begin raking people's leaves and make some good money from doing it. And the startup costs are cheap because all you need is trash bags and a rake!
If you live somewhere where it snows, then every winter your teen can make money by shoveling other people's snow. It is definitely a chore that many people don't want to do, and so if there is someone who is willing to do it for a decent price, then they'll probably hire that person, and so your teen can earn some extra money!
Babysitting
This is the classic teenage girl job, but if your teen is good at it, they can setup jobs almost every night of the week if they get some good clients. And, if they get jobs where the kids can go to bed at a decent hour, it won't affect their school work because they'll be able to do their homework after the kids have gone to bed.
During the holiday season, when your kids are usually out of school, many people have work parties, and other holiday parties that they want to attend, so this can be a great time for your teen to earn some extra money babysitting as people are wanting to get out more and more.
It works well to start out with neighbors you know, and then ask them if they know of anyone who may need a babysitter that they can recommend. Since they use your teen as a babysitter, then the people they recommend can trust your daughter to watch their kids also!
Conclusion
While these are just a few ideas, the best thing for your teen to do in order to make a little extra money is to think of not only stuff they are good at, but stuff that they are willing to do that others may not be willing or wanting to do. Stacking up fire wood deliveries, or other such ideas can be burdens to some people, but if your teen is willing to do it they can make some extra money.
