Project Natal Games

If you haven't heard of Microsoft's Project Natal for the Xbox 360, let me tell you a bit about it.  It is an accessory, that will go above or below your TV, that can track all of your motions.  That way, you'll be able to use your entire body to control what is happening in the video games.  It even has multiple voice recognition so that you can send out audio commands to the games.  So far, there are not many details about the Natal release, except for that it is slated to come out during the 2010 holiday season.

Project Natal uses two separate cameras to be able to interpret all of your motions.  The first camera is like a regular camera that can see you in color, and see your motions that way.  The other camera is a special infrared camera that can sense how close and how far away you are.  Special software combines the data from both cameras and that is how you are able to control the game.  All you need is an Xbox 360, and the Project Natal when it comes out and you'll be good to go.

There are many different possibilities for what we'll be able to do with Project Natal. Just like when the Wii came out it was revolutionary. They had Wii Sports, so I am guessing that Microsoft will release their own version, Project Natal Sports, that allows you to control different sports games with your body.

Imagine being able to actually throw a pass in football, call out plays during the huddle, and dodge defenders as they are coming at you.

It will also be pretty awesome for boxing and fighting games, since you'll be able to dodge and duck, as well as having the TV recognize your movements and being able to actually fight will be awesome.

I also think that exercise and fitness games will be pretty popular in the Project Natal genre, because these games will be able to actually see how you are doing the exercises and give you real time feedback so  that you know you are doing the moves correctly, so that you get the maximum amount of benefit from the exercises.  It'll be like an interactive workout video!

To sum it up, I think Project Natal is going to be awesome.  It is definitely going to revolutionize video gaming as we know it.  Sure, there may be glitches and it won't be for everyone, but I think it is going to be pretty awesome to see what kinds of things they come up with.
