Project Natal Games and Ideas

If you haven't heard of Project Natal, it is an awesome accessory that is coming for the Xbox 360, that allows you to control the games with your whole entire body.  It is a camera that is actually two cameras in one that tracks your motions.  The first camera is a regular RGB camera that can see you and get a physical picture of you to translate back onto the screen.  The second camera is an infrared camera that can judge your distance and also track your movements that way.  By combining these two images with intelligent software, you will be able to control various Project Natal games that come out.

I am going to go into some ideas of what I think will be cool games on the Project Natal.

Project Natal Exercise Games

Video games and exercise weren't really synonymous until the Nintendo Wii Fit came out.  The Wii Fit definitely revolutionized exercise in video games.  As more and more developers came out with exercise games that utilized the Wii Fit, "exercise games" and "fitness games" became a legitimate video game genre.

Because Project Natal can sense your movements and give you real time feedback, I think that Project Natal will be ripe for exercise games.  Since Microsoft is wanting to get casual consumers to start buying the 360, getting women who want to exercise to buy a 360 and Project natal will be a great business plan.

It will be awesome to have a personal trainer just giving you great feedback as you are exercising so that you'll know whether or not you are doing an exercise properly for maximum benefit.

Xbox 360 Exclusives and Project Natal

Each video game console has their own exclusive titles, and Xbox 360 is no exception.  One of the most popular series in all video game history is the Halo series for the Xbox consoles.  The 4th main release in the Halo series is supposed to be coming in the end of 2010, right around the same time as Project Natal.  Will we see a Project Natal Halo Reach?  Only time will tell, but a lot of internet rumor blogs seem to think so.

Conclusion

So far, Microsoft has kept pretty quiet about what games will be released for the Project Natal at or around the launch of the accessory, so everything is just speculation for now.  It is fun to definitely come up with ideas about what exactly this revolutionary way to interact with video games will bring us.
